"The moment a child is born, the mother is also born."
~Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh
Our goal is to find out what you’re good at and challenge you to fulfill your unique promise. We believe in the power and promise of intellectual curiosity—a deep, persistent desire to know.
We love to see our children asking questions, defining goals, and taking risks. We encourage them to stretch their abilities, explore different perspectives, and tackle the most challenging material they are prepared to try.
It’s cool to be smart here, and to help others learn, too. When our children are happy and excited to learn, there are no limits. If you care about education, this school is for you.
ALL THE RULES
ARE ONLINE
All parents will be asked to fill out an online membership enrollment. All our written guidelines are electronic and on this website available to you. Please read carefully and access it as often as you would like to familiarize yourself with it. You are welcome to screenshot, save or print out any portion of our website. All parents will be required to sign a form stating they have read and fully understood all guidelines online. Please ask questions if you don't understand something.
ARRIVALS and
DEPARTURES
Leaving your child with a stranger can be a very daunting task. Initially, most children may be a little apprehensive about going with a strange person and to a strange place.
iPLANETS ACADEMY will work with your child(ren) to help them overcome feelings of separation anxiety. If a child is continuing to have separation problems, we will discuss the best course of action for you and your child and determine if we are a good fit for them. We ask that you try to help prepare your child for the changes as far in advance as possible. Discuss any concerns. Talk about the new people your child will meet and the new things your child will do. If you are enthusiastic, soon your child will be too. During this period you might see crying or clinging especially if your child has not been apart from you before. Again, this is heart-wrenching but perfectly normal. Do not leave without telling your child goodbye and reassure them you will be returning. Brief goodbyes are easier for most children to handle than lingering on.
Please be very brief at pick up time as well. This is a time of testing when two different authority figures are present and all the children will test to see if the guidelines still apply. It is important that you back up the guidelines at this time. If your child is with you but observed not adhering to the guidelines they will be reminded of the guidelines, and we will take action to correct them. Children of all ages adjust to transition from one activity to another differently. Most do not like to be too rushed and most do not like to wait too long once they are ready to depart.
NO SHOES ALLOWED INSIDE OF iPLANETS ACADEMY. There is a cabinet when you enter for your convenience to store your shoes while on property. You can not walk barefoot but MUST WEAR socks, tights, ballet shoes, or slipper socks at all times while inside.
Do not leave without making sure all of their belongings are put up in their assigned spot. Also, make sure they have all the belongings they need to function throughout the day. That list can be found GO HERE. No child should be dropped off without having the necessary items on the list.
Once you enter the subdivision turn your radio off and leave it off until you exit the subdivision to respect others.
Parents are welcome to pick up their children early if need be before 8:00 PM. They will not be able to be picked up from the playground or leave straight from an Educational Field Trip. All children must be signed in and out and picked up at iPLANETS ACADEMY. If a child is picked up early and is in the middle of a project or playing they will have to clean up their portion before they leave so plan accordingly.
Not cleaning up before they leave may lead to disciplinary action, suspension, Clean/Damage fee, or termination of enrollment. All the children are required to clean their own mess. NO EXCEPTIONS!
SAFETY
PRACTICES
No car should be driving more than 5 miles an hour during arrivals and departures; this will help to avoid any accidents from occurring. We ask that you maintain that speed until you have gone past at least 6 feet from the stop signs.
Always turn your car off before exiting your vehicle.
Parking space is very limited, so it is very important that you pick up and drop off quickly then proceed to leave the premises safely. Due to the possibility of several parents dropping off at the same time we ask that you do not pull into the driveway but park out front across the street at the park.
This also helps with visibility because when exiting the premises you have the ability to see the front and back of your car. Please take the time to do a visual sweep of your entire car before getting in.
Do not let children play in between, or walk-in between cars. Do not load or unload children while standing in the street. Load and unload from the curbside.
YOU MUST HOLD THEIR HANDS FROM THE CAR UNTIL SAFELY INSIDE AND FROM INSIDE UNTIL SAFELY WITHIN YOUR CAR.
Please be mindful of other cars and possibly other children at all times! If you can not hold their hand and gather their belongings, then please take the belongings first to your car and then come back and retrieve your child.
Make sure your child is buckled in before starting your vehicle. Roll your windows down, leave your radio off, and look on all sides especially the rear of your car before driving off. This is for the safety of the children and to ensure you can hear clearly before driving off.
iPLANETS ACADEMY shall not be held responsible for any accidents or mishaps that occur. When it's between two parties, then you agree to handle all situations between you and that party according to federal and local state laws.
An incident report may be taken and filed by iPLANETS ACADEMY from both parties for future reference.
We care about the safety of your children! Please practice car seats, booster seats, or seat belts safety. Any children being transported in a way that violates the law may be reported and this can also lead to immediate termination of your child(ren) enrollment.
If you or any other person appears to be under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or incapable of driving safely we will call the emergency contact person listed on your “Emergency Contact list” to request their assistance. You may also have someone come and get you and your child.
iPLANETS ACADEMY reserves the right to ask you and/or your child to not return if you refuse a ride and leave with your child, we will notify the police department and child protection services to inform them of this.
Depending on how the situation unfolds and is handled by the parent or guardian, it may lead to immediate termination of your child(ren) enrollment.
NO REFUNDS SHALL BE GIVEN, NO EXCEPTIONS!
OPEN DOOR
Open Door Policy does not mean the doors will be unlocked. For the safety and protection of the children, external doors will be kept locked at all times.
iPLANETS ACADEMY does not allow unplanned visits by those who are not the mother, grandmother, or legal guardian who has custody. Everyone else must call in advance to set up an appointment. We thank you for understanding the security measures we put in place to maintain the children's safety at iPLANETS ACADEMY.
You are welcome to Facebook message us or call, if there is no answer, please leave a message and we will return the call as soon as we can. When deciding to stop by, please be mindful of our events, Educational Field Trips, activities, classwork, etc.
If your child is staying overnight or dropped off, we do not allow pickups past 8:00 PM, NO EXCEPTIONS! Pickups are not allowed again until 7:45 AM. If you are scheduled to pick your child up by 8:00 PM and you come to pick up at 8:01 PM or later 4 times your child membership will be terminated and they will be charged a $28 withdrawal fee. iPLANETS ACADEMY will not answer or open our doors once it is 8:00 PM for safety reasons.
Just remember that visitors have an impact on the child’s behavior and they may “act out of character” while you are here which means become clingy, get very excited, or be distracted. This is perfectly normal. Also, keep in mind, if your child is having separation problems, it might make it difficult for them when you leave.
You can reach us on most days until 8:30 PM by phone if you need to have a quick 5-10 minutes discussion. If you need an in-depth conversation concerning your child then we can schedule it. You are welcome to leave a message on Facebook or email us at any time. Please allow up to 72 hours for a response.
CUSTODIAL PARENTS
It is your responsibility to keep your “Authorization to Pick Up List” accurate and up-to-date. Please tell us in advance when someone else that you have authorized will be picking up your child either by texting us on the phone, an email or through Facebook Messenger.
Even if it is an emergency, WE MUST HAVE YOUR PERMISSION BEFOREHAND TO RELEASE YOUR CHILD TO SOMEONE OTHER THAN YOU. THE PERSON MUST SHOW US A GOVERNMENT ISSUED PICTURE ID.
The parent, guardian, or a person authorized by the parent or guardian must use and sign his/her full signature and include the arrival or departure time when signing the child in or out.
We have to assume that both parents have the right to pick up your child unless you give us a copy of a court order stating otherwise. Without a copy of the court order, we cannot refuse a parent. If we have a court order and a non-custodial parent tries to pick up the child; we will immediately call the custodial parent. If the non-custodial parent leaves with the child; we will immediately call the police and report the situation.
We will not place the other children at risk by getting into a confrontation with any parent, family member, or guardians. Please take the time to discuss the guidelines with all non-custodial parents and guardians to avoid any issues arising. Unfortunately, their non-compliance in any of these situations will lead to immediate termination. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN, NO EXCEPTIONS!

ABOUT MRS. MIMIShe is the upper-middle sister of 7 children and like most children, she spent the majority of her childhood helping her parents to nurture, care for, and teach her younger siblings. At the age of 10, she began babysitting her mother's friends' children, and for other local women in her community. She has stated, "She actually does not remember a time when she was not caring for children". Working with children has always been Mrs. Mimi's passion and lifelong dream. She feels the following attributes made her a great caregiver; being patient, loving, energetic, and a dependable mom who loves to help be a great support system for the families and the child(ren). She has owned child cares ever since 1994 and out of her home since 2008. Being former military, she has traveled and has owned child cares in 5 different states, where she has had the pleasure of teaching hundreds of children. She is CPR/FIRST AID certified, has a Business Administration Management Bachelor's degree, and an Early Childhood Education in Child Care and Child Development associates degree with an additional 260 hours of child care training throughout the years (Including 24 within the last year). She has taught Primary school, Head Start, and Kindergarten in the public school system. She was a youth and teen teacher in her church for over 20+ years. She also was an executive director over the Boys and Girls club as well as housed many troubled, and mentally challenged children/teens throughout the years. Mimi had the pleasure to volunteer and be in the nursing home ministry at her church. That afforded her the opportunity to bridge the gap between the beloved senior citizens there and the children she taught. She also worked in group homes with those who were mentally challenged. She believes that all students can learn. As the instructional leader she will have a hands-on approach to providing our volunteers, teachers, and families with the support they need to be successful so that the children can be as well. Her approach will encompass instructional coaching, relevant professional development, curriculum development, and fidelity, strategic lesson planning, with evidence-based instructional practices. She is looking forward to collaborating to ensure our learners are successful in both academic excellence and personal growth, as well as building your trust and confidence. She loves sharing STEM with our children, especially science! If she had not been a teacher she would have been a Forensic Scientist or Social Worker. Mrs. Mimi feels incredibly blessed to be able to teach her miracle son Tre Boy and offer a nurturing, safe, loving, and fun while learning environment at iPLANETS ACADEMY for all families.

HOW TO WITHDRAW YOUR CHILD FROM PUBLIC SCHOOL TO ENROLL IN iPLANETS ACADEMYIf Transferring into the State or Never Been in School Before If you are new to Texas — Welcome!! Texas has great laws for homeschooling. Because we are considered non-accredited private schools, we do not have to report to the state. That means you do not register with the local school districts, they don’t come into your home to review your curriculum or any of the many things you may have experienced in those other states. If your children have never been in school, you are also free to focus on how you want to educate them instead of the state making that decision. Withdrawing Children Who Are Already In Public School Has your child been enrolled in a public or private school prior to starting homeschooling? Although it’s not part of the legal homeschool or private school requirement in Texas, it is always a good idea to formally withdraw your child from school so that you don’t trigger any truancy inquiries. To do so, you can send either a withdrawal email or letter to the principal, counselor, and attendance clerk of the school letting them know that you are officially withdrawing your child from school and sharing the date in which your homeschooling will begin (or began.) It is suggested that you send this certified mail, return receipt requested, so you have proof of their receipt of the letter. We also suggest you send a copy to the registrar in case the principal forgets to notify them. Then get their records, return any items you have that belong to their school, gather all their personal items, and settle up any accounts with the school. Then you are free to enroll them in a new homeschool. For more information on private and homeschool laws GO HERE and GO HERE.

HOW DO I ENROLL MY CHILD SO THEY CAN BEGIN HAVING FUN WHILE LEARNING?We aim to establish mutually respectful and supportive relationships with families to build a village of learning as well as fun for all the children who cross our paths. NO parent will be allowed to enroll who does not have an active Facebook account or willing to open one. You will also be required to open or use your Gmail account for communication purposes. The next step is to submit interest in meeting Mrs. Mimi through Facebook Messenger and befriending her by GO HERE All paperwork must be completely filled out BEFORE any child will be allowed to enroll. Once we have the whole packet completely filled out and have all the necessary documentation and have had the opportunity to discuss your child's specialized needs we can set up a tour. Most tours are done in the Evening time so every parent can get the necessary time to ask questions. We reserve the right to give priority access to children who are currently enrolled and to children who help us maintain our balance.

WHAT DO I DO IF MY CHILD IS GOING TO BE ABSENT OR TARDY?If your child is going to be absent at any time, please contact us and make us aware as soon as you realize it. At iPLANETS ACADEMY, attendance is very important. Because we have a rigorous curriculum, missing one day can cause them to really get behind. We understand there will be times this can not be avoided. Each child is given 4 sick days. Any missed days outside of the days given will be considered unexcused absences unless you have a doctor’s or dentist excuse for that day. If your child needs to be absent for more than 4 days due to illness and you have a written doctor’s excuse stating that they are under their care, all fees shall cease from day 5 to day 8. If your child can not return to iPLANETS ACADEMY by day 9, we will have a conference to discuss options going forward. We may at our own discretion give you a refund for all monies paid for that month but we can not guarantee your spot will be held or you may wish to not get a refund and hold your spot that month. Your fees will resume when they return and you will be given credit for any portion of time they did not attend from the 9th day to the end of the month. That credit can only be applied towards the next 28 days if they can return. After 28 days, it shall become null and void and be considered a holding fee. Your child would then need to re-enroll at that time if we have availability. All POSH/GOSH duties shall also be relieved so you can concentrate on taking care of your child. During this time, it is the parent's responsibility to communicate their wishes and keep iPLANETS ACADEMY up to date on unfolding events as they happen. *All communication is to be through email, no other form will be acceptable. Failure to do so, may result in your spot being relinquished to another child. Your child will not be admitted back without a Licensed Doctor's Excuse that can be verified. We consider the following acceptable: Pediatrician, pediatric nurse practitioner, an R.N. or MD experienced in childcare or family health. All notes must be clear in explaining the medical condition treated, symptoms, any special instructions to be done upon returning, and explaining they are able to return to be among other children. Failure to have this outlined on the excuse means we will not accept it and they will not be able to return without it. No REFUNDS will be given, NO EXCEPTIONS! They are also given 4 personal days per Fall/Winter session and 2 personal days per Summertime Learning session. You must have been enrolled for 28 continuous days in order to use this privilege. Personal days do not roll over. In order to be eligible to receive a credit, these days must be preplanned at least 4 days in advance. Last minute requests are not allowed, NO EXCEPTIONS! It will be reflected as a credit on your next month's tuition. You must be current and up to date on your POSH/GOSH. If it is earlier in the month, then it must have been previously scheduled for the current month, NO EXCEPTIONS! If you are not in good standing with your POSH/GOSH and with any/all fees owed, then you forfeit your rights to have sick or personal days off.

This is why it is important that your contact details and those on your authorized nominees are kept up-to-date at all times. Picking up 4 times late is an automatic $28 late fee. WHAT IF MY CHILD DOESN'T LIKE THE FOOD? WILL THEY BE GIVEN AN ALTERNATIVE? CAN I BRING FOOD FOR MY CHILD?We have a "2 Bites Rule" which means each child shall be encouraged to sample and at least taste 2 bites before they can say they do not like a particular food. This is to help broaden their palette. The food that will be served at iPLANETS ACADEMY is not for taste. All meals are to ensure they get their proper nutrients and meet daily requirements. A balanced meal is for their personal growth, health, overall development, and to help them keep up with our vigorous physical schedules. No child will be forced to eat nor will the food be withheld as punishment at any time. We do not offer alternative meals or snacks because this only encourages them to not try new foods. We also do not allow children to bring any food or snacks from home, unless it is for all the children and preplanned. We only allow store-bought sealed food items when donating food for all the children.
-
WHAT IF MY CHILD HAS ALLERGIES?Please make sure to notate this on your "About Me" form. Please check the menus to ensure your child is not allergic to any foods we serve. Over the counter Medication or those prescribed must NOT be expired. Medication will NOT be kept past your child's last day. Any medication not picked up by the last day they are enrolled will be destroyed. GO HERE for more instructions and our guidelines related to Food Allergies.

WHAT ARE YOUR COVID 19, HEALTH, SAFETY MEASURES and PRECAUTIONS?We have moved from CODE RED to CODE YELLOW. This means we don't consider ourselves to be in the danger zone, but we are still taking precautions to prevent the spread. The virus that causes COVID-19 can infect people of all ages, and school system leaders should do everything feasible to keep students, teachers, staff, and our communities safe. Research from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), among others, has found that while children do get infected by COVID-19 and some severe outcomes have been reported in children, relatively few children with COVID-19 are hospitalized or have severe symptoms. Furthermore, the American Academy of Pediatrics notes that COVID-19 risks must be balanced with the need for children to attend school in person, given that lack of physical access to school leads to a number of negative consequences, placing “children and adolescents at considerable risk of morbidity, and in some cases, mortality.” Nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of your family. We know that you and thousands of families across the nation depend on our care to confidently return to work. So we owe it to you and your communities to do what’s right. In addition to our industry-leading health and safety practices that have been in place since the beginning of the pandemic including shutting down, we hope these efforts to create a haven for your child give you confidence in our care. One way we created a safer environment for everyone is we are all fully vaccinated with the Moderna vaccine. iPLANETS ACADEMY will consider the recommendations established by the CDC, public health officials, and local and state government, but when determining when to open or close the school during times of health emergencies, we shall always err on the side of caution whether others are or not. Our decisions on this matter are final. Some additional ways we are working to keep our kids safe: May be required to wear masks when out on Educational Field Trips. Children also may or may not be required to wear Face Masks when at the playground daily. Unfortunately, Parents or children with asthma, any respiratory illness, viruses, or infections will not be able to enroll at this time. NO EXCEPTIONS The children are the ONLY one allowed inside. Parents/guardians/designated drop off person are not to congregate at the door, but wait until the door is clear before approaching with their child so that each child can be checked in one by one. All children when not sitting at their desk during class or those who do not have a clear protector on, may be asked to wear a properly fitting face mask. Continuous handwashing will be enforced. Each child’s hands will be washed immediately after drop-off, before and after activities, before and after meals, and prior to dismissal. Routinely clean, sanitize, and disinfect surfaces and objects that are frequently touched, especially toys and games. There is plastic partitions between each desk to provide a guard for children sneezing. iPLANETS ACADEMY will not facilitate tours while other children are in attendance. All tours will be conducted in the Evening times to prevent any possibility of spreading germs. iPLANETS ACADEMY will not host POSH, GOSH, or volunteers at this time. At nap or rest times, ensure that children are spaced out as much as possible. Children will be placed head to toe in order to further reduce the potential for viral spread. To read our full guidelines for Covid 19 GO HERE

WHAT TYPE OF LEARNING DO THEY HAVE AT iPLANETS ACADEMY?iPLANETS ACADEMY is arranged so that children can engage in a series of structured and unstructured activities as well as link both social/emotional competence and early academic learning. Here we encourage inquiry and wondering by guiding the exploration of the natural world and using found materials for play and creative arts. We expose them to new spaces, materials, and the concept that different environments can hold different expectations. We encourage our children to take risks, explore beyond what they believed was possible, fearlessly engage in the unknown, and discover something new about the world and themselves. Although children follow predictable patterns of development, the rate, pace, and actual manifestation of any skill are unique to all children. Individual differences such as personality, temperament, learning style, native language, special needs, and family culture are embraced. Here at iPLANETS ACADEMY we spend time getting to know each and every child and create developmentally appropriate goals for them as a whole, and tailor learning opportunities for them individually. This results in a rich curriculum and classroom environment. Our curriculum is broken into three parts; academic, enrichment, and character development. This is where we strive to not only create lifelong learners but also to develop each child physically, mentally, and spiritually. In order to achieve this, we use a combination of curricula that meet our D.I.C.E guidelines and standards when preparing weekly lesson plans. At iPLANETS ACADEMY, we have developed our own curriculum called D.I.C.E.: D.I.C.E which stands for Discovery, Intelligence (All 9), Cognitive, and Exploration; focuses not only on those in the past, but also current events and present history in the making within our community. D.I.C.E. is a FUN while Learning, nurturing, safe, stimulating, hands-on micro-environment concept offering multiple and diverse developmentally appropriate heavily S.T.R.E.A.M.S. (STEM), project, inquiry, and problem-based activities that balance between teacher-facilitated instruction and child-initiated activities. D.I.C.E. seeks to awaken our children's inner gifts so they can pursue their own passion and dreams. D.I.C.E. integrated curriculum connects heads, hearts, and hands, allowing our children to approach concepts and content from multiple perspectives at developmentally appropriate points. Our children are encouraged to reflect regularly on their social-emotional, spiritual, and physical development as well as their academic learning. D.I.C.E. supports children in developing creativity, initiative, and building higher-order thinking skills by questioning, investigating, analyzing, exploring, processing information, evaluating, problem-solving, and communicating in their ongoing collaboration with peers, to pursue their passions, to challenge, to innovate, to build character, to build relationships and friendships, and sharing what they see, know, and understand deciding who they will be in society while leading the next generation. We help our children to build on skills such as positive social interactions, problem-solving, science, technology, math, literacy, creative arts, geography, social sciences, and music, etc. We have a large library of resources used to reach each child to inspire learning, and we continue to search for more ways to teach our children all the time. Working at each child's own pace to ensure they understand and grasp the educational concepts being taught. We also offer: Online Access to Self-Paced Pre-K up to 8th grade African-American and STEM Inspired Curriculum/Lesson Plans: $28 monthly per student, $8 each additional student $28 monthly per student for DFW Metro Texas Students. Will include scheduled Field Trips throughout DFW Metro.

WILL MY CHILD HAVE HOMEWORK?Yes, homework provides our children with the opportunity to apply and extend the information they have learned, to complete unfinished class assignments, and develop independence. There are some assignments that cannot be completed in class, but are essential to the progression of the curriculum. There is not enough time in a school day to do the amount of practice that may be necessary for mastery. Therefore, after reasonable in-class time is spent on material, homework is assigned to allow for the necessary practice. The actual time required to complete their assignments will vary according to their study habits, academic skills, and course load. We desire that each child be successful in their pursuit of learning. Therefore, we take homework very seriously. We expect all homework to be completed and turned in on time. Lack of participation can lead to termination of their enrollment. There will be no refunds given in such cases. If your child is having a difficult time with the material presented in any class; please act immediately and contact us for assistance. Once again, it is our heart’s desire that your child succeed in their education. PRIMARY and ELEMENTARY classes will be assigned weekly homework. We encourage parents to read with their children on a nightly basis as well as review assignments and provide immediate feedback. All parents will need to sign off on their work. By the time your child is enrolled in our INTERMEDIATE classes, he or she should be an “independent learner”. Therefore, our expectations are rather simple. They are to complete their homework assignments on time and submit their completed work. INTERMEDIATE classes provide a combination of nightly homework and long-term projects. The children will record assignments. The children are also encouraged to read nightly, and parents are encouraged to spot-check their work. Homework is not assigned for the purpose of extending curriculum that could not be completed in class. Nor is homework assigned for the sake of simply doing more, or work given on the assumption that significant quantities of work is equivalent to academic rigor. Additionally, iPlanets Academy recognizes that parental involvement is critical to a child’s education. Homework can be used as an opportunity for parents to actively assist their child in his or her studies. This will also keep the parents informed as to the current topics of study in the class and the child’s academic engagement level. We believe that a successful homework policy includes the teacher, student, parent triad of learning. Teacher Responsibilities: Assign purposeful homework at the appropriate level of difficulty. Clearly communicate routines, directions, and expectations. Continually communicate daily assignments and projects. Continually monitor homework and provide feedback. Their Responsibilities: Work with your parents to find a quiet place to do your homework. Create a schedule for when you will do your homework (think about all other after school activities that you will have to work around). Independently, complete homework to the best of your ability. Ask questions if needed. Tell parents and/or teacher if your homework is too hard or you don't understand something. Make sure you have the materials you need to complete your homework when you leave school. Make sure you have the materials you need for the school day when you leave home in the morning. Aim High- show effective effort and attempt challenges. Be Flexible- try first and persevere even if it’s hard Parent Responsibilities: Work with your child to find a quiet, consistent place to do their homework. Create a schedule for when your child will do their homework (think about all other after school and family activities that you will have to work around). Encourage your child to complete their homework independently. If your child is consistently spending too much time or is having difficulty understanding assignments, please contact the teacher. When it is time to go to bed, please stop your child even if he or she has not completed their homework. If your child is absent from school, missed homework assignments are due the day after his or her first full day back at school. All homework will be corrected but may not be graded and given back to them. Parents will receive feedback if students are not completing the homework or doing it incorrectly.

DO YOU TEST?Most testing at Public schools or other schools consist of teacher-devised evaluations administered. These tests are often standardized tests which compare an individual achievement with that of students elsewhere to output a grade or score. Parents interested in this form of testing may have their children tested at their own expense if they choose to do so. We conduct these assessment tests 4 times throughout the year. Below is the schedule for them and the associated fees for them. Optional ASSESSMENT Fees: End of the Winter Assessment Jan 1-3, 2024 $8.00 End of the Session Assessment April 10-12, 2024 $8.00 iPLANETS ACADEMY also considers our long-term observations and continual assessments to be more accurate in tracing growth and your child's development. Our assessments are tailor-made specifically for your child throughout the year. This gives us an opportunity to adjust to meet their individual needs. Please keep in mind, our subjects and curriculum is specialized and may not be measured in normal standardized testing. Occasionally, we may suggest individual testing of a student (for example, when a learning difference is suspected).

WHY DO YOU COMBINE AGE GROUPS?We combine age groups for several reasons. Our combined class gives our older children an opportunity to be mentors which helps them become natural leaders helping them to develop empathy, self-esteem, and self-confidence. As their leadership skills develop, they will also learn enthusiasm for the learning process which they can use to adapt to any situation throughout their lives. Helping to facilitate the younger child’s learning by becoming good role models. The younger children naturally look up to older children and therefore are more inclined to learn from them. They are less shy with older children than they are with adults and more apt to imitate appropriate behavior. When a younger child sees a work he/she is interested in, they have also watched the progression needed to be able to understand and handle the work. Our overall ultimate goal is to lay the groundwork for all of our children to become responsible, self-directed learners, self-disciplined, critical, and creative thinkers.

HOW DOES iPLANETS ACADEMY ACHIEVE MY CHILD GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT?Our D.I.C.E. curriculum is designed to follow your child’s development individually. He/she is introduced to projects as they master previous skills. The projects are self-correcting and offer internal confidence building. Once mastered, the next project is presented. This leads to a natural talent for goal setting and achieving. There are no “rote memory” activities, once a child has mastered a concept, they truly have learned it. Learning in a hands-on, inquiry, project, and problem-based STREAMS (STEM) inspired environments develop far superior critical thinking skills at an early age.

WHAT SPECIAL MEDICAL, SOCIAL, OR BEHAVIORAL SUPPORT DO YOU HAVE?"While we offer top-notch programs, we may not be the best program or have the right support in place for all children, especially those requiring special medical, behavioral, or social support. Please be aware that we are not trained or qualified to support those with emotional and/or behavioral needs or limitations. Thank you for your understanding! We will ask for your child’s health history and special accommodations in the registration forms. We may contact you if we need additional information. If we are unable to meet your needs we will send you a message on Facebook Messenger to let you know, otherwise enrollment will continue as normal. Although we wish we could accept all children there are some restrictions: The area and bathroom where the children meet is upstairs. Unfortunately, this prevents children who are wheelchair-bound from becoming a member. We do not have the additional staff needed, a handicap ramp, handicap bathrooms, or ADA compliant indoor facility for wheelchair-bound children. Because of that, it is just not feasible at this time. We also cannot currently accommodate children who use a comfort pet or eye seeing pets as there are no pets allowed on this property. We have some medical conditions that will not be able to enroll at this time. GO HERE for information on those conditions. We are truly sorry for any inconvenience this may cause some parents and their children. We hope you do find somewhere suitable for your child(ren) because we believe INclusion is a right due to all children. We are also looking forward to the day when we can purchase our own facility and have the ability to accommodate all children. Please contact us with questions about whether iPLANETS ACADEMY offers the right experience and support for your child.

WHAT IF MY CHILD HAS HAD PRIOR BEHAVIORAL PROBLEMS?Learning how to get along with other children takes time and lots of practice. Positive guidance is the key, and we work with children teaching them acceptable behaviors and simple guidelines to help them learn how to regulate their emotions and responses to others. We work with families to support the development of their children’s social skills, focus our teaching on supporting children to become truly independent, and socially competent, and we allow our Autism children to have the space they need if that need arises. No child shall be forced to participate or interact with others. Our positive guidance philosophy includes a problem-solving approach. Our goal is that children learn how to work out conflict in a socially acceptable and peaceful manner. Our children are learning how to communicate through dialogue and are also still impulsive by nature. All socially inappropriate behaviors are redirected, and desired behaviors are modeled. iPLANETS ACADEMY uses natural and logical consequences to assist children in learning self-control. We promote 'peaceful moments' in which a child may take a break from the current activity and sit down to regroup in a designated quiet area with adult support nearby. Ongoing aggressive behaviors are looked at on an individual and situational basis. It is our priority to maintain a safe environment for all children. Action plans, including formal referrals, and family meetings, are often part of these action plans.

WILL YOU TAKE MY CHILD SWIMMING?We do attend water parks, enjoy water slides, and low entry aquatic centers where they have lifeguards on duty and splash pads. We also may take them into a wave pool with strict guidelines on how far they can venture, as well as allow them to enjoy the lazy pool. Please discuss water safety with your child. We do not allow our children to be in more than 4 ft. of water at any time and all the children must be at least 48" with a weight limit of 200 lbs in order to enroll, because the activities we participate in requires it. For more information on what is acceptable attire and our sun safety guidelines GO HERE. They will be supervised but must be mature enough to attend water events. This means they must be able to stand in a line alone and mount the stairs alone that leads to the slides. Must be able to patiently wait alone for their turn to come down the slides. They must be able to ride the water slides alone and follow all safety guidelines when doing so. There will be an adult at the bottom waiting for them to come down. WHAT IS BOARDING LIFE LIKE?There is never a dull moment. Between extracurricular activities, athletic practices, community service opportunities, dinner with friends, house birthday parties, and nightly study hall, a boarding student stays busy. Weekends may include movie nights or skating, a trip to a museum or art gallery, shopping, board or video game tournaments with friends, trying new cuisine at local restaurants, visits to the Zoo or Aquarium, quiet time spent at the local library, or even a planned out of town Educational Field Trip, and of course chores. When a student needs extra guidance on a homework assignment, advice about a friend, a shoulder to lean on, or someone to share in his or her successes we are here!
